Before getting this we bought a Kenroy island light similar to this. It was awful in structural strenght compared to this. This light is solid, good looking and extremely bright (6 x 100 watt bulbs = blinding). We will probably put this on a dimmer or go to 60 watt bulbs and it is the only real light source in our kitchen area. Great buy for the quality, looks and price. The only con I might add is that the light canopy (top plate that connects to the electrical box in the ceiling) connects with two little screws that have the oiled bronze caps screwed on from the outside. A little scary that it isn't a bolt, but seems sturdy enough. Will be getting the matching chandeliers soon!
