Being a welder, I was pretty skeptical of this tool. I have a 7/9 in. electric grinder and two 4 1/2 in. electric grinders, all Dewalt. But when Dewalt came out with the 18V tool, I really didn't believe it could do the job. The Lithium ion battery is what really makes this tool. Quite simply, it will hold a higher charge longer than the nickel cadmium battery ever could. A lot longer. The only con, if there is one, is that when the battery dies, it really dies. It doesn't drain slowly like the ni-cad. That being said, it has saved me countless hours "touching up" surfaces to be welded.
