I needed this for application of a special firearm finish. It was recommended to me by my local paint supply store, who also uses it, and I got it here for a lot less than $700 they were asking at the shop. 3-stage filter, cleans /very/ easily. All it takes is some elbow grease to unscrew the canisters and give them a quick shake and a drying out once a week or so. Extremely user friendly. The added regulator on the end has two 1/4" NPT outlets that are great for hooking up extra hose- I run one to my paint gun and one to my sandblasting cabinet. The screw-valve is a pain to back in and out, but you can control pressure nearly to the pound, up from 5 to 120 PSI. I've run it for two months now without so much as a hiccough.
Don't use this by itself- you still need a good 15' of iron pipe to let the air cool and condense. If you try and run this straight from your compressor, especially for extended periods, you'll have to empty out the big canister and de-hydrate your dessicant beads. Which, again, not terribly difficult, but you might as well prolong their life as much as possible.
I would buy this again, without hesitation. It's definitely worth the extra money to make sure you've got the right equipment for the job. Scrimping and getting one of the cheaper single-stage ones will end up costing you more in the long run due to water and oil content in your end product.
