The motor is loud so I've been using ear-muffs. I can see if I was doing this all the time every day that a Rigid unit would be a better investment but my 30 to 50 times a year fits the bill. I did read reviews from this product and similar on other sites. A couple of REAL important things to watch when you get it is to first inject the planetary with grease as it states in the instructions and probably run it around as you do it. It only comes with a small amount of grease from the initial assembly. Second make sure you insert the die the correct way or you will be putting all the torque on the unit in reverse which the ring and pinion are not designed for. Last, I read that someone had the threads running all over the place. I could see it if either he started it on the high side of the die,which can happen or the dies were loose or one broken. I threaded 2" and with that being the highest torque value it is necessary to stop and reverse to not allow the burrs and shavings to bind. Average time to thread one 2" end is 5 minutes. The smaller diameters of 1" or less it will pretty much go right through. Happy threader at this end and the object of envy from my piers while they are trying to hand thread a job.
