Kohler K-878-0 Highbridge Cast Iron Bath with Right-hand Drain, White Review

I decided to write this review - because when I was considering buying the product, I could not find any actual buyer-side reviews. I am glad that after extensive research, I chose this tub and can strongly recommend to others. This is an "old school" cast iron tub that is heavy, durable and easy to clean. It is not cheap (I paid $1350+tax) - but offers a great value over time. Some plastic or steel alternatives may look appealing price-wise, but I did not like the hollow sound that they made (as if it was an empty plastic bottle) - you can't fool with physics - cast iron is the best. Because the Highbridge tub is 60-inch wide, it was a great upgrade for my Brooklyn, NY apartment - where the typical bathroom size is only 5 x 7 feet. During the bathroom reno, I was replacing 1950 cast iron tub which had a shallow depth (12 inches), thus soaking was not comfortable. This tub looks much deeper, however the actual water level is just 13.5 inches. It is roomier than its predecessor, so I can submerge in it to the chin and only my knee caps are not under water (my height is 5'10"). I had considered another Kohler tub product called 'Tea for Two', which offered even larger depth. However, after inspecting one at the local plumbing show room - the overflow drain is plastic and was not durable, for my taste. I would also suggest that if you plan to install Highbridge tub - use brass/copper overflow drain (Kohler model K-7259-CP) which has toe tap open/close drain. Avoid the plastic overflow drain with cables that Amazon and others are offering. Overall, I am very satisfied - judge yourself - I am posting 2 photos as well.
