Lackmond WTS950LN Beast Wet Tile Saw with Sliding Tray, Laser and Stand, 7-Inch Review

I give this 2 stars simply due to the awesome customer service. The saw itself has the potential to be great if engineering modifications are made.

ISSUES:

(1) It will not make a straight cut. This is significant when cutting tile that must be square, especially 20" tile. The plate that you set the tile on slides on a rail via sealed bearings; however, those seals allow a lot of play and will throw a straight cut off by over 1/2" which is HUGE when you have a 1/4" or 1/8" grout line. The rail is secure but the center mark on the plate can be slid 1/4" to the left and 1/8" to the right of the blade. The plate literally wiggles back and forth. This is due to the bearing seals of the plate not being snug on the rail. When pushing a 20" tile through the saw there can be a 1/2" difference from the beginning of the cut to the end. Customer service was surprisingly fast and effective. They promptly shipped a new plate which contains the sealed bearings, but unfortunately it was no different than the first plate.

NOTE TO LACKMOND: A straight cut will never be possible if the seals that slide along the rail do not have stringent tolerances. It wouldn't matter if you added a second and third rail and fifty sealed bearings if every seal could be wiggled left and right. This product might as well have a free floating plate. Those seals should only allow forward and aft movement, not left/right movement.

(2) The laser is a novelty piece. It has simple adjusters which rapidly come loose after mere seconds of operation. It's also useless when the plate doesn't maintain a straight line anyway.

(3) The included blade is worthless (Unless you like chipped tile) which is to be expected. I bought a DeWalt porcelain blade and also use a Hot Dog blade.

Everything else is as expected. Every bolt rusted after one use and all motors like this are as loud as hand grinders seeing as to how the motor is the same as that used for grinders. But the motor held up fine and is powerful. The water pump was also effective with no issues.

NOTE: NEVER stick the water pump of ANY wet saw in the tray like the instructions indicate. This is the area where all the tile remnants end up which is the consistency of mud and will quickly clog/wear your pump. Get a 5 gallon bucket of fresh water, set it on a chair or something next to the saw, and drop the pump in there. This results in only clean water entering the pump, improves water flow, and keeps the water line from clogging.
