These arrive assembled (except for the bulbs and glass), which means they are in tall boxes. The "solid" foam they are packed in tends to flake, so open them up in an area you can clean up. We used the garage. The bulbs are a specialty type (PBCFS2670) with four in each lamp. The box says they are 26W = 100W, so 400W per fixture. I don't know if the connection part of the bulb was configured differently than a standard bulb (it's a two-prong connection, vs. a standard screw-in bulb) because of size constraints to get four bulbs in a fixture or because of other design influences, but they are not bulbs you can pick up at a local store. Occasionally these lamps go on sale and at the sale price, they are a good value. We would buy them again.

One of our bulbs went out and Lamps Plus has shipped a replacement. They said they would do this for one month following the purchase. After the initial burn-in period we're hopeful the bulbs will last several years.
