We were replacing a defective Moen faucet that had been giving us problems for months. The Moen was only 3 years old, and was already serviced about a half-dozen times.

The Moen faucet had a number of bad design flaws, which we hoped to address with our new faucet:

(1) The Moen faucet was prone to leaks and drips.
(2) The Moen faucet did not have any protection around the supply/pull-out hoses, which resulted in frequent hose binding (the pull-out did not retract properly) and rough turning.
(3) The Moen installation brackets/mechanism were cheap, which resulted in the faucet becoming off-center over time.

I checked around with different manufacturers. Hansgroghe gets generally good reviews. An important point that I found was that according to the Hansgrohe website (when I wrote this review), 80% of their products are still manufactured in Germany. This is a good sign - even though Hansgrohe AG was acquired by Masco (An American conglomerate) in 2003, they aren't shipping all of their production to China, which seems to be occurring with many other "major brands".

So, how did our new Hansgrohe Talis C Rubbed Bronze faucet compare to our previous Moen faucet?

Pros:

1) The pull-out faucet head is held in place by a magnet. When returning the pull-out after use, there is a satisfying "snap" as the magnet pulls the head back into the faucet.
2) Installation was quick and simple (for a kitchen faucet), and the mounting/retaining mechanism is simple and effective. If the Hansgrohe faucet loosens for some reason in the future, re-tightening should only require a flat-head screwdriver. Much nicer than the Moen, which required using a plumber's faucet wrench in a very tight spot.
3) The long brass mounting pipe on the Hansgrohe provided two advantages over the Moen:
-- (a) There is almost no side-to-side slippage/alignment problems, since the Hansgrohe mounting pipe was just slightly smaller than the mounting hole it went in on the sink. Our Moen faucet slid back/forth and side-to-side because the hoses were loose and much smaller than the mounting hole. Note: Make sure that your mounting hole is the right size for this faucet. I think it is a standard size, but it wouldn't hurt to be sure before you install.
-- (b) The long brass mounting pipe keeps the water hoses aligned, and also keeps the water hoses from binding against the sink. Since the Moen hoses were "loose", they frequently rubbed against each other, and against the mounting hole in the sink. (This was the reason we had to replace the Moen - due to faucet slippage and the loose hoses, they were binding against each other so much that eventually the pull-out hose wouldn't retract anymore.
4) The side-to-side turning of the Hansgrohe faucet arc is smooth as silk.
5) The faucet lever is smooth as silk.
6) The bronze finish is gorgeous, with coppery highlights that give a nice rustic look instead of a uniform bronze (The highlights look like random, occasional fine copper scratches - we love the look, but it may not be for everybody. You should find a supplier before purchasing to see if you like the effect). The copper highlights match the color of the copper accent rings at various locations of the faucet.

Cons:

1) The pull-out head is made of a rugged plastic instead of bronze. It is a perfect match in finish and color to the rest of the faucet. There may be a very good reason why plastic was used for the pull-out head (maybe for less heat conductivity when using hot water). We're OK with it, but it was a bit of a surprise when we first used it.
2) The stream/spray button only turns the spray "On", but not "Off". To go back to "stream", you have to turn the water off at the faucet lever. It takes a little getting used to, but we'll adapt.
3) To turn the water "On", you pull the lever to the side to increase the flow. After decades of "pull up to turn on" (like Delta or Moen), it will take a little retraining, but we'll adapt.

As far as leakage or drips are concerned, we haven't had any issues for the first few months that we have owned the new faucet.

We love our new faucet, and are very impressed with the Hansgrohe design and quality. Hopefully, we'll get a decade or two of problem-free use!
